Physical therapy is done to improve mobility and motion and to help patients avoid surgery and prescription drugs. Physical therapy uses methods that include, but are not limited to, exercise, heat and cold therapy, and massage.
Occupational therapy is for those recuperating from physical or mental illness and encourages rehabilitation through the performance of activities required in daily life. An example of occupational therapy might include helping people recover from an injury and regain skills that might have been lost. It can also provide support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.
Speech therapy focuses on improving a person's ability to communicate effectively. Speech therapists provide a treatment plan to enhance a resident's ability to communicate with friends, family, physicians and care givers. Therapists can also identify and help patients with eating and swallowing issues.
At Valley View Senior Village, our licensed therapists work collaboratively with residents, physicians, nursing staff, and other caregivers to craft the best rehabilitation and therapy plan for each resident.
